The name of the place seems to be of ancient origin (cf. Ampurias ). It is said that a chapel from the Carolingian era already stood on the site of the medieval church . In the second half of the 16th century, the place and its surroundings were affected by the turmoil of the Huguenot Wars (1562–1598).
Attractions
The walls and vaults of the three-aisled parish church of St-Michel have medieval origins; it appears to have been a priory church of La Chaise-Dieu Abbey , but it was restored in the 19th century. A niche in the otherwise unadorned outer wall contains a small modern statue of Our Lady .
