Brossainc is a French municipality with 279 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The inhabitants are called Brossinois (es) or Brossaincais (es) .

geography

The municipality is located in the Haut-Vivarais in the north of the department and borders the neighboring municipalities of Boulieu-lès-Annonay and Paugres . The next largest city is Annonay , 10 kilometers away. Brossainc is made up of many scattered hamlets and is therefore very remote.

history

Until 1790, Brossainc and the town of Saint-Jacques-d'Atticieux formed a large community, which was dissolved again after the French Revolution . Today both villages form separate communities.

Culture and sights

Brossainc has a rustic Romanesque church . In addition, the hamlet of Châtaigner is a popular destination as a lookout point with a view over the municipality.
