geography

history

Remains of human settlement from the Stone Age can still be found today.

In the Middle Ages, the place was under the feudal rule of the Crussol family and belonged to the Counts of Uzès . However, by decree, the religious community was subject to the diocese of Valence .

The place became known for the so-called Théâtre de Leyrisse , an attempted uprising against the politics of Comisard de Mazel in Vivarais in 1709. It was not until November 13, 1880 that the municipality was given its current name by decree. It was previously called Saint-Didier-de-Crussol , named after the ruling family of the same name.

Attractions

The Saint-Didier de Crussol chapel is a reminder of the fact that the parish belonged to the Crussol family. It was mentioned for the first time in the 12th century and was under the control of the Saint-Chauffe du MONTIER Abbey . She later joined the Jesuit Church of Le Puy-en-Velay .

The Château de Crozat, which was also built by the landowners in the 14th century and served as their residence, is another well-known building. It was expanded further in the 18th century and redesigned by the architect Louis-Archille Tracol in the 19th century , so that it is now used as accommodation for tourists and seminars.

The granite temple of the village, on the other hand, stands out for its sober architectural style. It was inaugurated in 1823.

In the surrounding area you can enjoy a panoramic view of the community from Col des Fans . Not far away is the natural reservoir on the Duzon River.
