The municipality extends in the middle of the Boutières mountain range , a foothill of the Cevennes . The community consists of the main town Accons and the four hamlets of La Motte , Le Monteil , Les Auches and Chaussinard .
history
Accons was established in the 11th century as a strategic location by the country's first administrators to control the valleys of the surrounding rivers Eyrieux , Dorne and Eysse . The origin of the village lies on the extinct volcano Roche de Brion at an altitude of 800 meters, on the slope of which ruins of a first castle can be viewed.
The events in the village were determined by the Château de la Motte , which in the 17th century belonged to the Bayle family, the lords of La Motte-Brion , but was conquered by the Sassenages and the Vogüé family in the 18th century .

Attractions
The Renaissance-style Château de Motte from the 15th and 16th centuries stands out for its military architecture, for example control paths lead along the fortress. In addition, the building has its own forge and three imposing towers, so that the castle can be seen from afar. A specially built bridge from the 16th century connects the fortress with the village. A winding staircase leads up in the inner courtyard. Towards the end of the 16th century, the places around the building were built. In 1944, the castle was set on fire by German troops during World War II , so parts of the fortress had to be restored in 1964.
The Accons Church is one of the oldest in the region. Due to its remoteness, it was spared the riots in Vivarais between 1572 and 1628. In 1982 it was badly damaged, but by 1984 the restoration work had already been completed.
