Historical development

Today's Communauté de communes was created at the turn of the year 2013/2014 from the merger of three municipal associations and other individual municipalities. These were in detail:

  • the Communauté de communes des Boutières , an association of 11 municipalities founded in 2005;
  • the Communauté de communes du Haut-Vivarais , an association of six municipalities founded in 1998;
  • the Communauté de communes du Pays du Cheylar , an association of 14 municipalities founded in 2002;
  • the three municipalities of Albon-d'Ardèche , Issamoulenc and Saint-Pierreville of the Communauté de communes des Châtaigniers , which was dissolved at the same time , an association of six municipalities from 2002.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the municipalities of Borée , La Rochette and Saint-Martial left the association and joined the Communauté de communes de la Montagne d'Ardèche .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the previously independent municipalities of Nonières and Saint-Julien-Labrousse were merged to form Commune nouvelle Belsentes , which was incorporated into the association of municipalities. At the same time, the previously independent municipalities of Intres and Saint-Julien-Boutières were merged to form Commune nouvelle Saint-Julien-d'Intres , which was incorporated into the association of municipalities. This reduced the number of municipalities in the municipal association from 31 to 29.
