The Communauté de communes Porte de DrômArdèche is a French association of communes with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the two departments of Ardèche and Drôme , the administrative seat of which is in the town of Saint-Vallier . The name refers to its location on the northern edge of the two departments and their access via the Rhône valley , which flows through the area belonging to the association. The interdepartmental structured association of municipalities consists of 35 municipalities and has 46,366 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​420.7 km ² . Pierre Jouvet is the president of the community association.

history

The Communauté de communes Porte de DrômArdèche was created at the turn of the year 2013/2014 from the merger of four smaller, older associations that had been founded at different times:

• Communauté de communes Rhône-Valloire , an association that has existed since 1992 with communes from both departments;
• Communauté de communes Les Deux Rives de la Région de Saint-Vallier , an association founded in 1999 with four communes each from Ardèche and Drôme;
• Communauté de communes de la Galaure , an association of municipalities from the Valley of the Galaure founded in 2003 ;
• Communauté de communes des quatre collines , an association of four municipalities founded in 2010 and based in Hauterives .

tasks

The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. He runs the road maintenance department, sewage disposal (partially), garbage collection and disposal and the Saint-Rambert-d'Albon airport . In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas. He is also responsible for the expansion of the telecommunications and data transmission networks in his area.
