Saint-Avit is about 60 kilometers west of Grenoble . Saint-Avit is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Châteauneuf-de-Galaure and Saint-Martin-d'Août in the north, Tersanne in the east and north-east, Barthernay in the east and south-east, Ratières in the south, Claveyson in the south-west and Mureils in the west and north-west.

history

In 1869, Saint-Avit was separated from today's neighboring commune Ratières and became independent.
