Pont-de-l'Isère is a French commune with 3,503 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valence and the canton of Tain-l'Hermitage .

geography

Pont-de-l'Isère is located about eight kilometers north of Valence on the Isère river , which flows into the Rhône a little southwest of the municipality . Pont-de-l'Isère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Roche-de-Glun in the north and west, Beaumont-Monteux in the east and Châteauneuf-sur-Isère in the east and south.

Autoroute A7 and Route nationale 7 run through the municipality .

history

The old Roman road, Via Agrippa , runs through the municipality . In 1856 the municipality of La Roche-de-Glun was separated from the municipality of Pont-de-l'Isère and has been independent since then.
