La Roche-de-Glun is largely located on a river island on the Rhone . La Roche-de-Glun is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tournon-sur-Rhône and Mercurol in the north, Pont-de-l'Isère in the east, Châteauneuf-sur-Isère in the south-east, Bourg-lès-Valence in the south, and Châteaubourg in the south-west , Glun to the west and Mauves to the northwest.

In 1856 the community was separated from the community of Pont-de-l'Isère and became independent.
