Beaumont-lès-Valence ( Occitan : Beumont de Valença ) is a French municipality with 3649 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Valence and the canton of Valence-3 . The inhabitants are called Beaumontois (es) .
geography
Beaumont-lès-Valence lies on the river Véore , a tributary of the Rhône , into which the Guimand flows here. Beaumont-lès-Valence is surrounded by the neighboring communities Valence in the north and northwest, Malissard in the northeast, Montvendre in the east, Montmeyran in the southeast and Montéléger in the south and west.
history
In 1226 the place is mentioned as Villa Bellimontis . The remains of a Roman country house can, however, be dated to the second century AD.
