Vétroz is a political municipality and a civil parish in the Conthey district in the French-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .
geography
The municipality of Vétroz is located on the southern slope of the Alps on the northern side of the Rhone Valley. The Rhone forms the southern municipal boundary, in the west the border is formed by the Lizerne , along whose gorge the municipality extends like a finger far to the north. The community is characterized by the vineyards on the sunny slopes of the Rhone Valley. The municipality consists of the two villages Vétroz and Magnot. Neighboring communities of Vétroz are in the north and east Conthey , in the south Nendaz and in the west Ardon .

The local executive is called the “Conseil Municipal” and the municipal parliament is called the “Conseil général”.

Since June 2005, Vétroz has had a town partnership with Beaumont-lès-Valence from France ( Département Drôme ).
Sports
The current Swiss champion and most successful club of the decade in women's basketball, Hélios Basket , comes from the community.
