Hélios Basket is a Swiss basketball club based in Vétroz in the canton of Valais . Hélios is the most successful club in Swiss women's basketball in the 2010s.

history

Hélios Basket was founded in June 1973 by players from the municipalities of Vétroz and Conthey as a joint basketball club. The founding president Michel Huser is still in office today.

In the 1980s Sheldon Parker shaped the club under him 5 teams were founded and the women's team of Hélios Basket was brought into being. A cooperation was entered into with the basketball club from Anderlecht's Moortebeek quarter ( Belgium ), which was to last for over ten years. They were also the first Valais champions in the 2nd division, but could not be promoted due to the rule of foreigners together with Sheldon Parker. The promotion to the first division finally succeeded the first men's team only in the new decade under coach M. Joris. In the 1990s, a cooperation with the NLA association Sion Basket was also started.

In the new millennium, it was finally the women of the club who came into focus with their promotion to National League B and later National League A. In the second decade of the new century, the team under the leadership of the French coach Erik Lehmann established itself at the national top and between 2012 and 2017 has so far secured six Swiss championship titles in a row. Also the women in 2011 were in 2015 in the Swiss Cup and 2010 to 2015 in the Swiss League Cup success.
