Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence is located on the estuary of the Isère in the Rhone , about 5 km northeast of Valence and about twelve kilometers southwest of Romans-sur-Isère (as the crow flies). The municipality is located in the catchment area of the agglomeration of the departmental capital Valence, which has over 120,000 inhabitants. Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence is a clustered village , but there are also individual small settlement areas outside the main settlement, especially in the south of the municipality.
