Chateauneuf-sur-Isere is a French commune in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
The municipality is located on the Isère , just before its confluence with the Rhone .
history
The first settlement of today's municipality dates from the 12th century. Saint-Hugues, Bishop of Grenoble , came from Châteauneuf-sur-Isère. In the 13th century, the municipality belonged to the diocese of Valence .
