Hugo of Bonnevaux
Hugo von Bonnevaux (* around 1120 in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère , France , † around 1194 in Bonnevaux ) was an abbot of the Cistercian order and is venerated as a saint in the diocese of Valence .
Life
Hugo von Bonnevaux was a nephew of Hugo von Grenoble . He first headed the Léoncel monastery before becoming abbot of Bonnevaux in the diocese of Vienne in 1166 . When the Peace of Venice between Pope Alexander III. and Kaiser Friedrich I was closed, Hugo von Bonnevaux acted as mediator. The traditional veneration of Hugo von Bonnevaux as a saint was confirmed in 1903 by Pope Pius X for the diocese of Valence.
