Ziano Piacentino is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 2497 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 33 kilometers south-southwest of Piacenza in the Val Tidone between the rivers Gualdora and Bardonezza and borders directly on the province of Pavia ( Lombardy ).
history
The district Vicobarone was probably created in the 9th century. Ziano Piacentino refers to the foundation of the Castrum de Zillianum in 1029. Located on the border with Pavia, the castle has been the subject of frequent armed conflicts.
