Cortemaggiore is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4670 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 19 kilometers east-southeast of Piacenza and about 17 kilometers southwest of Cremona .

The center of Cortemaggiores was founded in 1479 by the margrave Gian Ludovico Pallavicino, although there are remains of settlements from Roman antiquity. A Jewish community also settled there early on. The synagogue was built in 1842.
