Vernasca is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 2053 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 33 kilometers south-southeast of Piacenza in the Val d'Arda and borders the province of Parma . Vernasca belongs to the Comunità Montana valli del Nure e dell'Arda . Part of the municipal area is the Lago di Mignano reservoir , through which the Arda flows.

The Vigoleno Group is a member of the I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy) association.

history

The municipality was populated by Ligurians early on . The Tollatal Abbey owned this area as Lavernasco in the Middle Ages . In the 10th century the Castello di Vigoleno was built.
