Borgonovo Val Tidone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8046 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 20 kilometers west-southwest of Piacenza and about 55 kilometers southeast of Milan . The municipality is located on the Tidone in the valley of the same name, the Val Tidone , and south of the Po .

Borgonovo was founded by Piacenza in 1196 as a fortification and a planned town (rectangular structure).
