Sarmato is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 2917 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 19 kilometers west of Piacenza on the Po in the Val Tidone and borders directly on the province of Pavia .

The A21 autostrada runs through the municipality from Turin to Brescia . In parallel, the former Strada Statale 10 Padana Inferiore (now a provincial road) runs from Turin to Monselice . The station is on the Alessandria – Piacenza railway line .
