Boffalora Castle in Agazzano

Agazzano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2002 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 14 kilometers southwest of Piacenza . The Tidone limits the municipality in the northwest and the Luretta in the east.

history

The place name goes back to the name Agathianum . In 218 BC the area was the scene of the battle of the Trebia between Hannibal and the Romans. In the 2nd century AD, the place is explicitly mentioned as pagus lurate . Agazzano Castle was built in 1224.
