Gropparello is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 2228 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 25 kilometers south-southeast of Piacenza and is part of the Comunità Montana valli del Nure e dell'Arda . Gropparello is partly located in the Riserva naturale geologica del Piacenziano , in which there are numerous fossils.
history
There are several castles in the municipality, which is between 150 and 1000 meters above sea level. The ancient city of Veleia was nearby. In the 9th century, Charlemagne donated one of the castles to the Bishop of Piacenza.
