Nibbiano ( Piacentine Nibian ) is a fraction and parish seat of the Italian community ( comune ) Alta Val Tidone in the province of Piacenza , Emilia-Romagna region .

geography

The place is about 33 kilometers west-southwest of Piacenza at an altitude of 290  m slm on the orographic left bank of the valley of the same name in the northern Apennines through which the Torrente Tidone flows , not far from the border with the province of Pavia in Lombardy .

history

The district of Trebecco was named as Castrum de Durobecho as early as 971 , while Neblano first appeared in 1029. Nibbiata was an independent municipality until 2017 and merged with the neighboring municipalities of Caminata and Pecorara on January 1, 2018 to form the new municipality of Alta Val Tidone. The districts of Corticelli, Genepreto, Pieve Stadera, Sala Mandelli, Strà, Tassara, Trebecco and Trevozzo also belonged to the municipality of Caminata. Nibbiano is the administrative seat of the mountain community Comunità Montana valle del Tidone . To the northwest of Trebecco is the artificial Lago di Trebecco , which has a capacity of around 12.5 million cubic meters of water. The water supply is used for irrigation and for generating electricity from hydropower.

The former state road 412 della Valle Tidone (today the provincial road 412R) leads past Nibbiano from Noverasco near Milan to the Passo Penice .
