Saint-Julien-Vocance is located about 30 kilometers south-southeast of Saint-Étienne on the Cance River , which rises in the southwest of the municipality. Saint-Julien-Vocance is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Monestier in the north, Vocance in the northeast, Saint-Symphorien-de-Mahun in the east, Saint-Pierre-sur-Doux in the south, and Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid in the west and southwest as well Saint-Julien-Molhesabate to the west and north-west.
