The continuous decline in the number of inhabitants since the middle of the 19th century is essentially due to the mechanization of agriculture and the associated loss of jobs. Because of the proximity to the city of Annonay , the population has increased slightly since the 1990s.

economy

Traditionally, the population lived on agriculture, which also included viticulture, and a little cattle breeding. Today many go to work in Annonay. The wine produced in the municipality is marketed under the appellations Ardèche , Comtés Rhodania, etc.

The monastery was declared a monument historique in 1927 ; it is now privately owned.
  • The parish church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption , simple both inside and out , was built in 1872.
