Roiffieux ([ʁwafjø] okzit. Reifiòc ) is a French municipality with 2785 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Canton Annonay-2 of the departments of Ardèche in the Region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes , a few kilometers south of Annonay .
The community residents are called Réfocalien and Réfocalienne .
Roiffieux successfully takes part in the national competition for community beautification.
geography
As a starting point for hikes, Roiffieux offers spectacular views of the Vercors massif and the mountain ranges of the western Alps.
history
At the time of the revolution in 1789, the name “Fieux libre” was used to avoid the word “Roi” (king).
There are several old castles and many testimonies of beautiful old architecture in the municipality.
