Culture and sights

The municipality of Boffres was strongly fortified in the 17th century, traces such as the remains of the protective wall or the ruins of the castle can still be seen today. The round donjon made of pink granite forms the highest point of the place and is made of many small individual blocks. The community's chapel and village well are also well preserved. Many other historical buildings such as the Tarvidon, Chabret, Gleize houses and the ancient Tempelhof are also well protected.

Boffres is also home to numerous castles. The most famous of these is the Château des Faugs , which was built especially for Vincent d'Indy in 1886. His bust can still be seen in the village square today. But after the First World War he gave up the castle and moved to the Côte d'Azur . Other well-known castles are the Château de Périer and the Château de Cachard , which were built in the 15th and 16th centuries and are located in the middle of the local forest.

In addition, the place has a Romanesque church and a temple, which is one of the oldest and best preserved in the region. The main building was built in the middle of the 17th century. The temple was only inaugurated on November 11, 1838 by Priest Brunel.
