Paddy Belton
Patrick "Paddy" Belton ( Irish Pádraig de Béalatún , born June 25, 1926 , † May 22, 1987 ) was an Irish politician and sat from 1963 to 1977 for the Fine Gael in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .
Belton was elected on May 30, 1963 in the by-elections in the constituency of Dublin North-East for the Fine Gael in the 17th Dáil Éireann and so occupied the vacant seat of his brother Jack Belton , who died in February . Paddy Belton was re-elected in 1965, 1969 and 1973. In the 1977 elections for the 21st Dáil, however, he was no longer able to defend his mandate .
Belton was also a member of the City Council of Dublin and held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin from July 3, 1978 to June 1979 .

Paddy Belton came from a very politically active family. His father Patrick Belton was a member of the Dáil Éireann. But Paddy Belton's brothers Jack and Richard also embarked on this career. Richard's daughter Avril Doyle sat in the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009 .
