Vernols ( Occitan : same name) is a French municipality with 65 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Flour .

geography

Vernols is located around 27 kilometers northwest of the small town of Saint-Flour within the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park .

The community includes the settlements of Cézerat, Landeyrat, Vernols and numerous individual farms.

history

Historically, the commune belongs to the Cézallier region within the Auvergne. Vernols belonged to District Murat from 1793 to 1801 and was part of Canton Allanche from 1793 to 2015 .
