Lavastrie is a village in the French department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The formerly independent municipality belonged to the canton of Neuvéglise (until 2015 Saint-Flour-Sud ) and the Arrondissement Saint-Flour and was a member of the community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Saint-Flour Margeride and the Communauté de communes du Pays no longer in existence de Saint-Flour . It was merged with Oradour , Neuvéglise and Sériers to form the Commune nouvelle Neuvéglise-sur-Truyère by decree of September 21, 2016 with effect from January 1, 2017 .

Lavastrie is located in the Massif Central and consists of the villages of Chaussines, Grandval, Combret, La Rochette, La Brugère, Fauges, Polignac, Montbrun, Serres, Le Mas, Tarrieux, Fontbonne, Robis, Chamalières and Levers. The municipality marker at 660-1042 meters above sea level comprised 24.14 km². The Truyère delimits the village to the south. Neighboring towns are Neuvéglise in the west, Les Ternes in the north-west, Sériers in the north, Alleuze in the east, Fridefont in the south-east and Saint-Martial .
