history
The first human signs from the Stone Age were found at a shelter in the rock face of the Cuze. Other traces of settlement date from the Gallo-Roman and Merovingian times. As the property of Moissac Abbey (in the Tarn-Garonne department), the small settlement was named Moissac. This remained unchanged until 1871, when it was named Neussargues. Already in 1900 the name was changed again and the municipality received the double name Neussargues-Moissac.
