Chavagnac ( Occitan : Chavanhac ) is a former French community with 103 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Saint-Flour and the Canton of Murat .
With effect from December 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Neussargues-Moissac , Celles , Chalinargues , Chavagnac and Sainte-Anastasie were merged into a commune nouvelle with the name Neussargues en Pinatelle .
geography
Chavagnac is located around 21 kilometers northwest of the small town of Saint-Flour on the southern edge of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park in the area of the Monts du Cantal mountains . The main bodies of water are the Lac du Pêcher in the north and the Fons Nostre and Chavagnac streams . The most important traffic connection is the national route 122 , which runs past in the south . The nearest train stations are in Murat and Neussargues.
Chavagnac is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Vernols in the north, Chalinargues in the east, Virargues in the south and Dienne in the west.
