Araules is a French municipality with 597 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Yssingeaux .

geography

Araules is located in the Velay , a landscape in the French Massif Central , about 23 kilometers east-northeast of Le Puy-en-Velay . In the municipality is the Pic du Lizieux (1,388 meters), an extinct volcano. Araules is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Yssingeaux in the north, Saint-Jeures in the east and northeast, Mazet-Saint-Voy in the east and southeast, Champclause in the south and Queyrières in the west.
