NGC 4136 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 27 million light years away from the Milky Way and is 30,000 light years across. Together with 18 other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4274 group ( LGG 279 ).
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4131 , NGC 4132 , NGC 4134 , NGC 4150 .

The Type II supernova SN 1941C was observed here.

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 13, 1785 .
