IC 3005 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 69 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter. Together with four other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4105 group ( LGG 270 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4105 , NGC 4106 , IC 2996 , IC 3010 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
