IC 3029 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 302 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 125,000 light years in diameter. Together with PGC 213940 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair . It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 27 , but it is too far away for that.
The galaxies NGC 4164 , IC 3021 , IC 3031 , IC 3033 are located in the same area of the sky .
The supernova SN 1991bk was observed here.
The object was discovered on May 7, 1904 by the American astronomer Royal Harwood Frost .
