IC 3039 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 339 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 59 , but it is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 767 , IC 768 , IC 769 , IC 3036 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
