IC 769 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 96 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 50,000 ly. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 58 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 767 , IC 768 , IC 3036 , IC 3039 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 24, 1891 .
