IC 782 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 105 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 486 .
The galaxies NGC 4281 , NGC 4282 , NGC 4287 , NGC 4300 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 17, 1892 .
