NGC 4282 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 38 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 15,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VVC 411 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4266 , NGC 4270 , NGC 4281 , NGC 4287 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on May 26, 1864 .
