NGC 4266 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 65 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light-years across. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VVC 362 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4259 , NGC 4270 , NGC 4282 , IC 3153 .

The object was discovered by Albert Marth on May 26, 1864 .
