NGC 4252 is a faint , spiral-shaped dwarf galaxy of the Hubble-type Sb with extensive star-forming regions in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 35 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is a member of the extensive NGC 4472 group ( LGG 292 ) and is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 289 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4249 , NGC 4257 , NGC 4259 , NGC 4266 .

The object was discovered by Albert Marth on May 26, 1864 .
