NGC 4246 = IC 3113 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 163 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 110,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VCC 264 as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster . Together with NGC 4235 and NGC 4247 , it forms the galaxy trio Holm 359 .
The galaxies NGC 4223 , NGC 4224 , NGC 4233 , IC 3102 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The supernovae SN 1975C and SN 1984U were observed here.

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 13, 1784 .
