IC 3111 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 656 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under the catalog name VCC 259 , but is too far away for that. The galaxies IC 776 , IC 3131 , IC 3132 , IC 3134 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered on January 25, 1900 by Arnold Schwassmann .
