NGC 4269 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 89 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. Together with IC 3155 it forms the galaxy pair Holm 365 . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under the catalog name VCC 373 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4260 , NGC 4261 , NGC 4264 , IC 3136 .

The object was discovered on March 4, 1862 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
