IC 3136 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 246 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under the catalog name VCC 314 , but is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4260 , NGC 4269 , IC 773 , IC 3155 .
The object was discovered by Auguste Voigt in June 1865 .
