IC 3148 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBd in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 107 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years across. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under the catalog name VCC 343 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4233 , NGC 4276 , IC 3131 , IC 3150 .
The object was discovered on November 20, 1899 by Friedrich Karl Arnold Schwassmann .
