IC 773 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 241 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 271 , but is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4260 , NGC 4261 , IC 3136 , IC 3155 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 4, 1893 .
