IC 787 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 412 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 135,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VCC 799 as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4383 , NGC 4396 , NGC 4405 , IC 3313 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 7, 1888 .
