NGC 4405 = IC 788 is a lenticular galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 76 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 874 .
The galaxies NGC 4383 , IC 787 , IC 792 , IC 3369 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 20, 1789 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
